Big Bass Bonanza: A Week With the Calmest Tapper on My Phone
I didn't plan to write about Big Bass Bonanza. It was meant to be a five-minute palate cleanser between two heavy strategy sessions. Instead it stuck around for a week, mostly because it asks so little of me and gives back a nice little rhythm every time.
The core loop is tapping a spinning reel of underwater symbols and watching the fisherman animation play when things line up. It's not complicated, and that's the point. On days when I didn't want to plan tower layouts or micromanage armies, this was exactly the right amount of nothing.
A few practical notes. It runs fine on my mid-range test phone with no stutter, and the battery drain is gentle. The audio is cheerful, but I'd still recommend turning it down in public. You can leave a session and return without penalty, which is rare and welcome.
My tip: treat it as a break, not a main course. Play it in short bursts and it stays charming. Play it for an hour and the simplicity starts to show. As a wind-down between bigger games, Big Bass Bonanza earned its place.
