Big Bass Bonanza

★★★★☆ 4.2 Editor rating

Big Bass Bonanza is one of those games I loaded expecting to close in five minutes and ended up leaving open on my desk for a whole lunch break. The setup is simple: bright underwater scenes, cartoon fish, and a spinning reel of symbols you tap to line up. What makes it click is the pacing. It never rushes you, and the little animations of the fisherman reeling in a catch give each round a small payoff.

Controls are as light as they get. One thumb does everything, which is why it works so well on a train or in a queue. I liked that you can leave it and come back without feeling lost. The sound design is cheerful without being annoying, and the water effects are genuinely nice to look at on a decent screen.

It's not deep, and it won't challenge you the way a strategy game does. But as a wind-down title between heavier sessions, it earned a spot on my home screen longer than I expected.
